Major John Vincent Meredith, M.C.

M, #12278, b. 4 November 1885

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: 4 November 1885; Norfolk - Scottow, England
  • Note: William Rice Meredith's pedigree charts say this was the only son of George Meredith. However, I feel confident that the George V. Meredith living in England in 1901, with sons Ralph and John must be this family. I am assuming Major J. Meredith named by Wm Rice was John, who was 15 in 1901. In 1911 John Vincent Meredith, born England, age 26, single, Church of England, was a lieutenant in the Royal Irish Constabulary, living in a barracks in Maryborough.
  • Note: Marjorie Frances Beryl Cato; Marriage notice published in "The Times," Tuesday, Aug 28, 1917; pg. 1; Issue 41568; col A: Captain John Vincent Meredith, M.C., Leinster Regiment, D.A.A. and Q..M..G., age given as 18, which can't be correct--in the 1901 census he was 16 years old.

Family: Marjorie Frances Beryl Cato (b. about 1897)
