    HAVENSVILLE REVIEW 2 FEB 1911
Elerson S. Bateman, after an illness extending over the past five months, passed away at Gage, Oklahoma, Jan. 24, 1911, at the home of his uncle, Leander Fields, whence he had been taken by his parents with a hope of this recovery by a change to a warmer climate. Elerson was born near Havensville, August 29, 1890 and at the time of his death was 20 years, 4 months and 25 days old. He was the eldest son of Chas. A. and Mattie M. Bateman, was a member of the Woodmen Camp No. 3041 and carried $1000 insurance with his sister Fannie as the beneficiary.
He united with the Christian church under the ministry of Rev. H. R. Murphy when about 14 years of age. He was industrious and dutiful, reserved and mild mannered, uncomplaining and hopeful throughout his illness and everyone was his friend, as was evidenced by the great numbers, old and young, who attended the funeral and followed the remains to the city cemetery on Friday last. His former pastor H. R. Murphy, now of Valley Falls, conducted the funeral service at the Christian church, and many sad-eyed people lingered to look once more upon the sleeping form of the splendid young man who loved life, but who gave it up without a regret, and expressed his hope in the life immortal upon which he was just about to enter.
