- Note: Wilfred was a student at the time of the 1901 census, living in Mount Forest, Ontario. He may have been estranged from his sister and brother who lived in Vancouver, as his niece had no knowledge of his existence. I found him in Saskatchewan in 1911(the copy is very hard to read): Saskatchewan / Regina / 57: Townships (Enumeration district description: 7 in ranges 22, 23 west of the 2nd M, Village of Ogema): Poole, Wilford W 2 . 7 . 23 born Sep 1884 age 26, farmer; wife Annie (transcriber at automatedgenealogy.com has her as Louise, but I read it as Annie) born Jun 1883, age 27; daughter Marjorie Elva born Dec. 1910.
In 1916 the census is clearer--he is farming north half, section 27, T 7, R 23, W2; Key West municipality, Saskatchewan. A search of the index to homesteads shows two files: numbers 1699639 and 1717191
The local history book for this area is "Prairie Grass to Golden Grain"--unfortunately, it is not in ourroots.ca!
Asearch of the Sask cemeteries site shows 4 Pooles buried in Remco Sunset Resthaven Cemetery, Moose Jaw: Clarence bur 8 May 1996; Edith W (nee Goalen) 1904 - 1992, dau of Thomas and Christina; John V. Sr., 1897 - 1958; and Yvonne, also bur 8 May 1996; name Clarence leaves me wondering if these people might be from this family??
- Note: Annie Mabel Neal; Marriage reg'n #20272-1906: son of "Michael Poole" and Martha Smith; woodworker; age 21; born London, Ontario; witnesses were Clarence Poole and Mrs. M. Chapman (brother and sister of the groom), both of Mount Forest. Annie was a milliner.
