Probably the Samuel who in 1900 was a farming partner of Thomas Curtis, said to have been born in Canada in April 1871, widower, living in West tp, McLean County, Illinois. By 1920 the family had moved to Cavalier county, North Dakota. That census indicates that Samuel arrived in the US in 1871 and became a naturalized citizen in 1885.
