James Haggerty

M, #13191, b. about 1740

Biography

  • Birth: About 1740; County Cork, Ireland
  • Note: James was a clockmaker and resident of Cork.
  • Note: Ann (Nancy) Medley; Haggerty, James, Mr., Clock-maker, of this City [Cork], to Miss Nancy Medley, of Bandon, in Bandon – (CEP 22/6/1767): http://www.corkancestors.com/Deathsmarriages.htm
This seems likely to be the James Haggerty-Ann Medley marriage listed in MLB 1766--at one time I thought this James might be from Kilmeen, but now seems unlikely as he was a clock-maker who lived in Cork.

Family: Ann (Nancy) Medley (b. about 1740)

John Heagerty

  • Birth: Before 1775; County Cork, Ireland

In 1796 the Irish Linen Board published a list of almost 60,000 individuals who had received awards for planting a specified acreage of flax. Those who planted one acre were awarded 4 spinning-wheels, and those growing 5 acres were awarded a loom. (http://www.alphalink.com.au/~datatree/wolfs17.htm) This could be John the shoemaker/bootmaker of Clonakilty, although assumed birth date may not fit--see separate listing.
