Joseph Meredith

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: Before 1780; Ireland
  • Marriage: 1802; Anne Jackson; Diocese of Killalla and Achonry, Ireland
  • Note: The tithes (recorded ca.1830s) record Joseph Merediths in two townlands of County Sligo: (a) Gorterdrass (parish of Achonry) (b) Carrawntuvane (parish of Killoran) Although in different parishes, these two townlands lie adjacent to each other, so there's a strong chance that it's just one Joseph with at least these two holdings. Griffith's Valuation (approx 1850s) has a widow Ann at Coolaney (Killoran parish).
It may be the same Joseph & Ann in each of these recordings and in the marriage record. (extracted by LJ)

George Hagarty

M, #10800, b. about 1861, d. 19 August 1925

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: About 1861; County Cork, Ireland
  • Christening:
  • Death: 19 August 1925; Castle Road, Bandon
  • Burial: 21 August 1925; Ballymodan Parish, Bandon, County Cork
  • Note: Ballymodan parish registers show baptism of George Hagerty, son of Edward and Ellen, in 1861 and the 1925 burial of a George Hagerty of Castle Road, Bandon, age 65. Originally I thought both records must be for the same man, but it now appears the son of Edward and Ellen was married and had children (see separate entry for George Hagarty, also born abt 1861). Both the 1901 and 1911 censuses show George Hagarty, unmarried, living with his sister Kate in Gully, Ballymodan parish. Both are listed as shopkeepers in 1901. In 1911 they are listed as living on Castle Road, Gully, Ballymodan. George's occupation appears to be "Solicitors managing clerk." George was said to speak both Irish and English. Precise date of death from probate record.
