  • Burial: 1 January 1842; Rosenallis, Queen's County, Kildare Diocese
  • Note: 1821 Tithes Applotments show Mr. Joseph Meredith holding 254 acres of land in Rearymore townland. There is also a Mr. Rice Meredith holding 152 acres--Joseph's son Rice would have been too young to hold land in 1821. Leer's Directory of 1814 also shows Joseph Meredith at "Reary-more." Joseph Meredith of Rearymore buried in Rosenallis 1 Jan 1842--assumed to be this person but not documented.

Mathew Meredith

M, #11461, b. before 1794

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: Before 1794; Ireland
  • Note: In 1886 Mathew was identified as the second son of Mathew Sr. He was probably the Mathew who emigrated to Prince Edward Island (now in Canada) in the early 1800s. He may have died in the 1825 Mirimichi (New Brunswick) fire as family stories are that he went to NB. There are no further records for him after that date.
A recent discovery by kw in the Freemans Journal, Tuesday, October 31, 1820, Page 1: "I HEREBY Caution all Persons against giving credit to Ann Meredith, otherwise Davis, my wife, as I will not be accountable for any Debts she may contract; she having eloped from me from this place to Ireland, contrary to my direct commands. Prince Edward's Island, 6th June 1820. MATHEW MEREDITH."

William Harris Greene

M, #11465, b. about 1780, d. 13 October 1864

Biography

  • Birth: About 1780; Maryborough, Queens County, Ireland
  • Marriage: 24 December 1802; Primrose Meredith; Rosenallis, Queen's County, Kildare Diocese
  • Death: 13 October 1864; California
  • Note: Family stories are that William and Primrose immigrated to Canada "near Quebec" in 1822--at that time Quebec was known as Lower Canada. They moved to the USA and in the 1850 census are found in New Orleans. There is a California census for 1852 online--they do not seem to be listed. In 1860, after Primrose died, William was living with his son William in San Francisco. An IGI record for William Harris Green seems likely to be him: born 1779 "Marborough, Laoighis" [would probably be Maryborough] died 13 Oct 1864 [location not stated], married to "Primrose Meredith Calcot" in 1802. An additional IGI record shows an 1767 marriage between William Green and Sarah Harris in Mountrath--guessing these are probably William's parents?

Anne Meredith

F, #11466, b. about 1774, d. 30 September 1858

Biography

  • Birth: About 1774; Ireland
  • Marriage: 10 January 1803; Joseph Meredith; Rosenallis, Queen's County, Kildare Diocese
  • Death: 30 September 1858; Queens County, Ireland
  • Burial: 1 October 1858; Rosenallis, Queen's County
  • Note: 1805 baptism gives mother's name as "Jean", rather than Anne, but I assume it is the same person. Presume this is the Anne Meredith living in Kilmanman in 1850 (Griffiths) and who died in 1858, aged 84. Daughter Gertrude's marriage settlement refers to Anne as being of Capparogan [Kilmanman parish] and having a sister Mary. also of Capparogan.
