3 Ellen [ap] Williams Meredith was one of the first members of the North London Deaconesses’ Institution at 50 Burton Crescent, King’s Cross, London after its establishment in 1861. She was ordained as a deaconess in 1863 but later resigned her licence and joined the Community of St. Mary the Virgin in Wantage, where she was enumerated in the 1901 and 1911 censuses.
Note: The date of death given in the book “The Beginning of Women's Ministry…..” is in error and relates to a different Ellen Williams Meredith, a widow, who died in 1922 in Wales.
