Hannah Odlum

F, #12220, b. 1730

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: 1730; Ireland
  • Death: Charleston, South Carolina, USA
  • Note: "Hannah, married to William Hornby was one of my relatives, Her name was Hannah Odlum and the daughter of Thomas Odlum, born 1741 and died in Mountrath, Laois in 1809. His wife was Mary unknown.
Thomas' father was Richard Odlum b. 1703 in Geashill King's County and died 1767. His wife was Ellinor Allcock, born in Fontsdown, Kildare. She died in 1770 in Ballychristal, Kildare.
Richard's father was Henry Odlum, born 1661 at Geashill (Offaly) and died 1738 in Geashill. His wife was Grace unknown.
Richard's father was Thomas Odlum. We do know that Thomas was disbanded as "Oldum" from Ormonde's troop in 1662. Family legend has him from Lancashire, yet to be proven. The Odlum/Oldum name may also have been Oldham, originally.
Hope this helps. If you want siblings names etc., feel free to e-mail me (but her email address is not available on the website: http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?odlum::hornby::19.html).
    Good luck. Brenda Dailey"
See also which gives extracts from the will of Richard Odlum of Geashill, Kings counyt (1703-1763), indicating that Hannah Hornby was the 2nd daughter of Richard, not of Thomas.
