Esther (aka Hester) Clarke

F, #10251, b. about 1777, d. 25 April 1863

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: About 1777; Ireland
  • Marriage: 21 January 1804; George Clarke; Maryborough, Queen's County, Ireland
  • Death: 25 April 1863; Queen's county, Ireland
  • Burial: 28 April 1863; Coolbanagher Parish
  • Note: We assume Esther was from Maryborough parish, as that is where she and George married. Other Clarkes in Maryborough at the time include Thomas (abt 1774 - 1854, spouse Elizabeth Wilkinson) and William (1788 - 1878, spouse Alicia Hill) Clarke. The four-year gap between the baptisms of George and John suggests there may have been another pregnancy between 1813 and 1817. Tombstone indicates aged 85 at death.
Esther's death was reported in a Wellington county, Canadian newspaper, supporting our belief that she was a sister of Thomas, who had several children living in Wellington County. From the "Fergus British Constitution" [Ontario], May 29, 1863: "Died at Emo, Queen's County Ireland on the 25th nit [April], Mrs. Clarke, aged 86, relick of the late George Clarke Esq. Emo deeply and deservedly regretted by all who enjoyed her kind Christian and courages friendship."
  • Note: George Clarke; Register, p. 19.

Biography

  • Birth: About 1750

  • Burial: 25 October 1804; Maryborough, Queen's County
  • Note: "Mrs. Anne Meredith of Clonenagh Parish buried" (Maryborough Register, p. 22). A transcript of tombstones in the old St. Peters Cemetery shows a Thomas Pattison buried with Anne--he may have been her father?
"Here Lieth y Body of Thomas Pattison who departed this Life April 14th 1779 Aged 57 years"

Jane Meredith

F, #10258

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: Clonenagh Parish, Queen's County, Ireland
  • Christening: 8 July 1807; Offerlane Parish, Queen's County
  • Burial: 1 September 1807; Maryborough, Queen's County, Ireland
  • Note: Baptism register indicates that Jane was the daughter of Thomas and Susannah Meredith of "Clonegown near Ballyfinn and not in Offerlane." Maryborough burial register indicates Jane was the daughter of Thomas "an infant not a year old, from the parish of Clonenagh." These two records must be for the same child, and I believe the father was Thomas of The Oak.

William (Clonenagh) Meredith

M, #10259, b. before 1785

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: Before 1785; Queens County, Ireland
  • Note: William was from Clonenagh parish (Register, p. 39). I'm not sure which William Meredith this is--there were 2 or 3 of them in Clonenagh at this time. It is not likely to be an additional person not recorded elsewhere. Only record is burial record for daughter Susanna in 1808.
