  In the 1892 NY state census there appear to be 2 listings for William, age 6, with the family of Fred and Lilly Claus.
  In 1900, 1905 and 1910 William was living with the family of his uncle, George Evans, age 47, born England. In 1900 he is listed as Mr. Haggerty, born September 1886. 1905 William was 18 and a salesman; in 1910 he was 23 and his occupation appears to be coffee roaster?
  Their marriage registration says Wm was a cable splicer, age 26 and son of Myron Haggerty and Elizabeth Clause. He lived at 38 Ellison Street. The 1915 and 1925 NY state censuses and the 1920 federal census show William and Ethel living with his in-laws; his occupation in those years was still cable splicer. The 1940 Rochester Directory shows Wm J. (cable slicer at RG&E Corp, 89 East Av) and Ethel M. living at 138 Cedarwood Terr.
  WW I enlistment record for birth date; dated "6/5/17"-- 6 May or 5 June? 1917. Dependents at that time were wife and child. Blue eyes and brown hair; two characteristics said to be "medium"-- probably height and build--not legible?
  Cemetery records show William died 10 December 1953 of a coronary thrombosis; residence was 138 Cedarwood Terrace.

Ethel M Haynes

• Note: Ethel's widowed mother, Sarah Haynes, was living with Ethel and William in 1930. Mount Hope Cemetery records show Ethel died 1 May 1870, age 78, of metastatic ovarian cancer. She resided at Roch General Hospital at the time of her death. SSDI record for an Ethel Haggerty born 6 March 1893, death reported? June 1970, indicates her last residence was East China, Saint Clair, Michigan.

William John? Haggerty

• Note: William was 43 in the 1930 census for Rochester, New York. His parents were both born in Canada. I have no proof that he is the son of Wm James, born Bath, Canada in 1857, but the records are consistent with this identity. William rented his home and his occupation was cable [illegible] for a gas and electric company. Information for Wm and his family is also found at in the IGI database at FamilySearch.org.

• Note: This is the Rice Meredith who was recorded in the Arklow Hearth Rolls of 1659--he would likely have been at least 21 years of age at that time. Possibly the same Rice (or father of that Rice?) as noted in the Howard family Wicklow papers (National Library of Ireland, Collection List No. 69, WICKLOW PAPERS):
  "MS 38,572/16(1) Lease of land at Ballymoney from Ralph Howard, Dublin, to Rice Meredith, Templerainy. 17 Mar. 1696"
  Could this man have been the common ancestor of the Dublin/Wicklow and the Queen's county Merediths? See separate entry for "Reary Ancestral Meredith" and for Rice Meredith, buried Rosenallis, 1732. I suspect the Rice buried in Rosenallis in 1732 was the brother of Mathias. Y-DNA results indicate today's Wicklow and Reary Merediths have a common ancestor.

• Note: In 1881 there was an "E. Merdith" (female) aged 20, born Ireland living with the family of Joseph Meredith Carter in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe County, Ontario. She may have been Esther Meredith, daughter of Richard and Ellen, but if so, Esther was also enumerated with her parents in Tecumseth and there her age was given as 17. I have no other documented possibilities for the identity of this woman.
