John Alexander Keegan was a Head Constable in the Royal Irish Constabulary. He enlisted on 6 May 1872, and served in Wicklow, Cork E.R., Down, Leitrim and Kilkenny. He was promoted to Acting Constable on 1 May 1880, Constable on 2 Dec 1880 and Head Constable on 1 Mar 1895. He was pensioned on 16 Mar 1906. He was enumerated in the 1901 census at Piltown, Kilkenny, and in the 1911 census at Newtown, Ballintemple, Co. Carlow in which he was described as an Estate Clerk.
