The Service was conducted by Canon G. J. Wilson, M.A., who was assisted by the Rev. W. F. Benson, M.A. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. Henry Deverell, was attended by Miss Ruth Switzer and Miss Joan Burns. Mr. Eric Meredith acted as best man. A reception was held afterwards by the bride's mother at " Derrylough.'' Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Meredith left for the West of Ireland.”

Samuel DEVERELL was born on 29 October 1909 in Cloncourse, Co. Laois, IrelandG.1 He married Elsie Evelyn MEREDITH, daughter of Robert Samuel MEREDITH and Adelaide DEVERELL, on 6 February 1945 in Drumcondra ChurchG.2 Samuel DEVERELL died on 24 September 1968, at age 58, in BelfastG.3 He was buried on 26 September 1968 in Geashill churchyardG.4,3
Samuel was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Deverell, Annagharvey, Tullamore. His obituary appeared in the Irish Times:
“The death has taken place of Mr. Samuel Deverell, of Annagharvey House, Tullamore, Offaly. Mr. Deverell was recognised as one of the best and most progressive farmers in the county, whose advice on all aspects of farming was eagerly sought and given freely. In the past, he was a frequent exhibitor of stock at agricultural shows. He was chairman of the North Offaly Co-Operative Society. He represented the Diocese of Kildare on the General Synod of the Church of Ireland. He was also a member of the Diocesan Synod and the Diocesan Council, and honorary secretary and treasurer of his parish, Geashill, for 36 years. Mr. Deverell is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.”.5

Samuel DEVERELL was born on 4 April 1825 in Leeds, EnglandG.1 He was baptised on 27 September 1829 in St Peters Church Leeds YorkshireG. He married Harriet COX, daughter of Thomas COX, on 1 January 1866 in Ballykean Church, King’s CountyG.2 Samuel DEVERELL died on 9 March 1908, at age 82, in Derrylough, Rosenallis, Co. LaoisG.3
Samuel Deverell was a farmer reportedly aged 35 living at Coolavoran at the time of his marriage in 1866. He was enumerated in the 1901 Ireland census at Meelick in Queen’s County and described as Samuel Deverell, Head, Church of Ireland, can read & write, aged 75, Farmer, born in Leeds, England.
