Frances FRENCH was born on 20 March 1870 in Moyrus, Co. Galway, IrelandG.1 She married John Cole Bowen CROSS on 17 May 1902 in St.Mary’s Shandon, CorkG. She married William Joseph ARMITAGE on 5 January 1909 in Magourney Parish Church, Co. CorkG.2 She died on 4 July 1920, at age 50, in Cancer Hospital, Fulham Road, LondonG.3
Her sister Isabella French was the informant of the birth of her first son Robert John Cross in 1896.
She was enumerated in the 1901 Ireland census as Frances Cross, a visitor in the household of Thomas Desmond in Blarney Street, Cork, along with Robert Cross aged 4.
Frances E. Barrer was a witness to her 2nd marriage in 1909.
She was enumerated in the 1911 Ireland census at Rochestown, Co. Cork with William Joseph Armitage (husband, age 48), Arthur Charles Cross (husband’s step-son, age 9), Isabella Frances Armitage and Alice Florence Armitage (daughters, age1).
The 1921 census entry for her daughter Alice Florence Armitage notes that he mother was dead.
Probate of her estate was granted on 26 Sep 1921 as follows:
“ARMITAGE Frances of 20 Park Mead-road Wyke Regis Weymouth Dorsetshire (wife of William Joseph Armitage) died 4 July 1920 at the Cancer Hospital Fulham-road Middlesex Ádministration watchman. Effects £850 3s. 2d.”.
