Robert Edward WINTERS was born on 27 February 1865 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, IrelandG.3 He was baptised on 14 April 1865 in Particles Parish, Kilfinane, Co. LimerickG.3 He married Mary Francisca WEIKERT, daughter of Joseph WEIKERT and Winifred MONAGHAN, on 28 May 1907 in Registrar’s Office ClaremontG. Robert Edward WINTERS died on 5 May 1913, at age 48, in Claremont Mental HospitalG.
Robert Winters is thought to have travelled to Australia from Ireland prior to 1888. According to his death certificate, he spent 2 years in Queensland. It is known that many Irish migrants went to Queensland helping to build rail lines.
Robert arrived in Western Australia on board the Innaminka from Melbourne on 30th March 1898.
- In 1901 he was recorded as living as a Porter in Brunswick and in 1902 in Wellington Street Perth
- In 1904 at Leake Street Cottesloe (now Peppermint Grove), working as a gardener.
- In 1907 Robert and his wife Molly were recorded as living at Phillip Road Claremont.
- In March or April 1912 he fell from a tree, and as a result of these injuries he died in May 1913, leaving his wife to care for 2 children under 5 years.
