Death record confirms that this Edward was unmarried, of Springfield, a member of the R.I.C. and died of phthisis (a disease characterized by the wasting away or atrophy of the body or a part of the body, often pulmonary tuberculosis). Burial record says he was buried at Ballyfin, but there is no trace a tombstone for him or any others of this family.

Bartholomew Elliott Meredith
M, #12042, b. about 1806, d. 19 October 1888
Parents
Biography
- Birth: About 1806; Queens County, Ireland
- Death: 19 October 1888; Waterford, Ireland
- Note: Bartholomew’s eldest known child, Fanny, christened in Rosenallis in 1831. A Bartholomew Meredith recorded in Griffiths at Lackamore, Castlebrack (1851), but no confirmation as yet as to ‘our’ Bartholomew or any connection to Philip Meredith property in Lackamore. Bart & family turn up in Waterford by 1861 (confirmed) and probably previous to that. Suspect they may have moved there via Kerry (one son noted as being Kerry born, moving to Waterford as a ‘youth’ ) but no firm evidence. Bart was a ‘keeper of the Waterford lunatic asylum’ in 1861 and moved on (up?) to being a clerk/accountant later in life. (pm)

Elizabeth Meredith
F, #12050, b. about 1825, d. 25 January 1858
Parents
Biography
- Birth: About 1825; Queens County, Ireland
- Death: 25 January 1858; Brooklyn, New York
- Note: Elizabeth did not marry. She moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1846 and died there (Source: unidentified newspaper clipping in possession of pmk). However, I have been unable to find her in the 1850 census for New York. However, she does appear in Hamilton, Canada West (Ontario) in January 1852, with her sister Jane Wylie and Charlotte Meredith, age 27.
Family records indicate her mother was Frances Warburton, but it that is so, she must have been born no later than Feb. 1823.
