Parents
Biography
- Birth: 6 March 1919; Stony Beach, Saskatchewan
- Death: 17 March 2012; Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan
- Burial: Stony Beach Cemetery
- Note: POTTS, Helen March 6, 1919 - March 17, 2012 On Saturday, March 17, 2012, Helen Potts passed away in the Echo Lodge Nursing Home at the age of 93 years. Mom was born on March 6, 1919 in Stony Beach, Saskatchewan to Charles and Martha Harlton. She left the family farm to pursue nursing as a profession, graduating in 1943 from the Grey Nuns Hospital. Her training led her to England where she served her country as nursing sister in the Canadian army during part of World War II. Upon returning from the war, she married her first husband, Harvey Baldock and settled and farmed one half mile from her childhood farm. The family later moved to Regina where mom resumed her nursing career working in the case room of the Grey Nuns and later in the Alan Blair Clinic. Mom remarried after dad died in 1974, to Douglas Potts and they moved to B-say-tah Beach to establish a retirement home. Mom and Doug enjoyed their summers at B-say-tah and their many cruises during the winters. Doug's three children and her three boys led to many special family events once families were established and grandchildren arrived. The famous Baldock/Potts football game became a Thanksgiving tradition. Helen continued to live there until she was 85. Family and friends were always welcomed to share a scotch or a cup of tea with mom and to tour her flower garden. Helen was predeceased by her two husbands, Harvey Baldock and Douglas Potts; two infant brothers, Robert and Edward; her brother George Harlton; sister Ruth McGowan; and stepson Allan Potts. She is survived by two sisters and her three sons.

Andrew Gawley
M, #933, b. 1781, d. after 1861
Parents
Biography
- Birth: 1781; County Fermanagh, Ireland
- Marriage: 1811; Jane Reed; Drumruchus, Monaghan, Ireland
- Marriage: 18 February 1834; Dorothy Keys; Hastings county, Canada West (Ontario)
- Death: After 1861; Madoc Twp, Hastings County, Canada West
- Note: Family stories were that the Gawleys were from county Fermanagh. The IGI has two different records for the marriage of Andrew Gawley and Jane Reed/Reid: one is 1817 at "Drumruchus", County Monaghan and the other is 1811 at Clones, Monaghan. One possible explanation is that there were two different couples. However, I think it more likely that two different transcripts were made and that the numerals 1 and 7 were different interpretations of the same handwritten parish record--early handwritten numerals for "1" often look somewhat like a "7". The two different locations could be explained if one refers to the parish and the other to a townland. I have been able to determine there is a townland called "Drumbrughas" listed in Clones parish, county Fermanagh, and think this is likely where Andrew and Jane were married. Clones parish overlapped both County Monaghan and County Fermanagh.
I have recently (February 2009) seen a letter written by Dorothy Keys' father which indicates that Andrew was from "Fermanagh near Roslea and Clones." There is a townland "Rosslea" in Clones parish in Fermanagh, so that is probably where he lived. Perhaps Drumbrughas was the home of Jane, as that appears to be where they married.
For a description of the parish of Clones in the mid 1830s, see: .
- Note: Dorothy Keys; Letter written by Dorothy's father give marriage date.
