Jonathan Haggertie

• Burial: St Thomas Church, Belleville, Canada West

• Note: Jonathan and his son James are on the 1834 Militia List in Hungerford Twp, Hastings County. Jonathan is listed as 47 years old and a resident of Lot 2, 4th concession.
  MLB marriage record gives name as Hegarty. Diocese burial record indicates died 17 November, 1860, aged 77 and that James Haggerty and Marmaduke Haggerty were present at burial. Notice of death in newspaper published 21 November, 1860: "In the 4th Con. Huntingdon, on Sunday 18th instant. Mr. JONATHAN HAGGERTY, aged 78 years."
  My grandmother, Florence Huff Haggerty, did a great deal of work on Jonathan's descendants in the 1940s. I still have much of the correspondance she received from descendants of this family and would welcome contact from any of this Haggerty/Haggertie branch of our family.

Sarah (Sally) Haggertie

• Burial: Haywood Cem., West Middlesex, Mercer County, Penn.

• Note: Sarah Haggertie and George Forbes settled in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Sarah was living with her son Richard in 1850. In 1860 and 1870 she was living with her daughter, Elizabeth (Sweesy) in Shenango Township, Mercer County. Her age was recorded as 69 in 1860. In 1870 she was said to be 100 and her last name was spelled "Forbus." In Mercer County in 2001 I was told that was how the name was pronounced.
