"After George's (4) death, his widow married John Bateman and moved to Lincoln [County], Illinois. She died in Ontario [Middlesex County] while visiting her oldest son."
In the 1861 Census for Hastings County, Rawdon Tp., the following family lived in a 1 1/2 story log house (lot 2, 7th conc.): John Bateman, farmer, born Ireland, EM religion, age 36; his wife Elizabeth, born Ireland, age 38; Samuel age 9; Jane age 7; Matilda age 5; Wesley age 3; George age 1; Elizabeth age 17; John Hagerty age 15; and Catherine Hagerty, age 12. The three older children, listed last, were children of Betsy and George Haggerty. All of these children were born in Ontario, then called Canada West. This property was previously farmed by William Haggerty (late husband of Elizabeth). John Bateman, the son of Samuel Bateman and Jane Bateman, came from the same Irish parish as the Haggertys. Although Elizabeth Morgan died in Middlesex County while visiting her son John, I don't believe she ever lived there, and that FHH was mistaken when she claimed otherwise. In 1880 Elizabeth was living with her three youngest sons, who were all listed as farmers or farm laborers. On the 1880 census, she was said to be 60 years old (Blue Ridge, Piatt County, Illinois, NA Film #T9-0242, p. 198A).
Catherine was the only Haggerty to move with her mother to Illinois. Her brother and sister, John and Elizabeth both moved further west, settling in Caradoc Tp, Middlesex County, near the city of London.
Ontario Death reg'n #10579--1884: age 63, born Ireland, cause of death not stated; informant her son, J[ohn] Hagerty of Lot 8, R1S, Caradoc.
In 1860 a Jane Morgan was enumerated with the Bateman family; she was 16 and born in Canada--possibly a niece? or perhaps an enumeration error re: surname?
