RETA FRANCES KELLY
It is with heavy hearts that the Kelly Family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Reta Frances Kelly in the early hours of October 20, 2009 at the Grace Hospice surrounded by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her husband Clarke (1973) and eldest son Clifford (Kip) in 2004. She is survived by her four daughters, Pat Unrau (Ben), Lynne St. Laurent (Ed), Maryanne Robblee (Merv), Karen Bayes (Drew) and two sons, Jack and Donald as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Reta was the last surviving member of the “Fartin Martin” clan outliving her brothers, Roy, Clayton, Ken and sister Nina. Born and raised in Chilliwack, BC, she came out east in 1947 and lived on Blenheim Ave. for 62 years. She loved to travel, visiting England, Europe (for five months), United States as well as an Alaskan cruise for her 80th birthday. She worked many years in the service industry at Great West Life, Eaton’s and the Woodward Building.
Reta’s life was long and had many challenges, but she never complained. She never lost that impish twinkle in her eye. Many of our pranks were because of her instigation. She will be remembered in our hearts, as a very loving and caring woman, who put others (especially her family) ahead of herself. She always showed kindness and generosity to everyone and never went anywhere empty handed. Thank you MOM for being our mom. We could not have asked for a better role model and our cherished memories of you will be our strength for years to come. We would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to our Mom during her time there. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the MS Society or the Humane Society if you wish.
