• Note: Earliest record for a Tanner is death of an unnamed daughter of Jonathan Tanner in 1696, hence assumed Jonathan was born before 1675; name of his wife unknown. Cannot be certain that all of the children listed below were children of the same Jonathan--there may have been more than one in the parish at the time.
  Bandon tenements on the south side of the Bandon River, 1717 :
  Jonathan Tanner: "On this tenement, formerly returned waste, there is now a large dwelling house with a good handsome washed? front 2 full storeys high, staircase, return and very good convenient outhouses in backyard all lately built by the present tenant and garden plott."
  Jonathan is also listed in a 1722 rent roll:
  Bandon lease records for Jonathan Tanner include :
  1733 Jonathan Tanner, merchant, lease for the lives of his only son, Jonathan jr and two others; added is a note that Jonathan Jr predeceased his father, who died in 1775. A 1720 record indicates Jonathan sr was a forester, but in both 1731 and 1733 Jonathan jr is said to be the only son, indicating that the merchant and the forester must be the same man.
  The Ballymodan burial register shows Jonathan Tanner Esq. buried 21 March 1775. An earlier burial was Mr. Jonathan Tanner burried 14 April 1740, must be the son.
  Wills and abstracts which are part of the W.H. Welply collection, held at the Society of Genealogists in London, abstracted from 'A Guide to Copies and Abstracts of Irish Wills' by Rev Wallace Clare 1930.
  
  Both 1740 and 1776 listed for Jonathan Tanner of Bandon.

  From Bandon genealogy website:
  In 1786 Walter Tanner of Gaggin had a lease on "Tenements part Bruce holdings Sth side Sth Main St. No 5 Scale", annual rent was 2 pounds, lease was held for the lives of Benjamin Tanner age 18, Thomas Tanner age 9, and James Bernard, age 8 months, son of Francis Bernard. I think it likely that Benjamin and Thomas were Walter's sons.
