Biography

Richard was a carpenter; he immigrated to the USA in 1861 or 62. In 1870 he was living with his parents in Erie, PA; in 1880 he was in Rochester NY, listed as an uncle in the household of Jacob and Catharine Teale (in 1875 Jacolb and Kate Teall were next to the Tanner family in the census record)--could Catherine/Kate Teale have been another Tanner child?). In 1920, aged 70, he was a boarder in the home of Libby Van Doren in Rochester. In 1925 he was listed in the NY state census living in the Almshouse in Rochester, age 74, occupation carpenter. - Birth: December 1856; Ireland

- Note: In 1870 was a drug store clerk, age 14; in 1900 he had been married for 20 years and was a "shoe cutter." Elizabeth Tanner
F, #19308, b. March 1852, d. 27 August 1935
Parents
Biography
- Birth: March 1852; Ireland
- Death: 27 August 1935; Rochester NY
- Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery
- Note: In 1870 Elizabeth was only 19 and already married and with two children. The 1930 census indicates that she married when she was 17. Also in the household in 1870 were her grandfather, Marmaduke (labourer, 61) and Jennie (dressmaker, 22) Haggerty. Marmaduke was the father of Elizabeth's mother, Catherine Heagerty. In 1880 she has a 7-year old son named Marmaduke. In 1930 Elizabeth McCutchen, 77, was living with her son Alfred in Rochester.
Bit of a puzzle? 1900 and 1910 census shows Elizabeth/Lizzie born in NY, but in 1910 her father Edward was in the household and indicates their family was still in Ireland in 1852! In 1900 and 1910 she was said to have had 5 children, all still living. However, the 1892 NY state census shows 6 children, first names barely legible.
Rochester Democrat & Chronicle,Wed Aug 28, 1935DEATHS:

M, #19309, b. March 1838
