This pilot has displayed coolness and devotion to duty of a very high order during the many operational sorties he has carried out with this squadron. He has set a high example to his crew and to the rest of the squadron. He has participated in attacks on most of the enemy's heavily defended targets including Leipzig, Frankfurt, Mannheim and Berlin. This officer is strongly recommended for the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Drimmie Creek (in the Upper Arrow Lakes draw down zone, British Columbia, Canada) was named in 1950, as follows:
"Named to remember Royal Canadian Air Force Flying Officer Gordon Robert Drimmie, DFC, service number J16306 from Revelstoke, British Columbia serving with 405 Sqn when he was killed 14 January 1944, age 21. Buried at Hanover Cemetery, Germany, grave 11.H.2. Survived by parents Martin and Margaret Drimmie, Vancouver."

- Note: Birth registered 1st qtr. 1911 census shows Robert Drimmie born Ireland Feb. 1883, living in London, Ontario with his wife Margaret born Ireland Nov 1880 and children, Margaret M. born Dec. 1908 and Kathleen E. born October 1910. Robert was a machinist; the family is Catholic, which may be why they emigrated? Robert arrived in Canada in 1906, Margaret in 1905. Marriage registration confirms that this is the same man, although in Canada his name is listed as Robert Andrew Drimmie. When Kathleen and Dorothy were born the family lived at 20 Blackfriars Street in London. There may have been additional children, but Ontario births after 1913 are not available to the public.
- Note: Margaret Halpin; Ontario marriage reg'n #13055: witnesses were Stanley Mooney and Mary O'Leary, both of London, Ontario. Both bride and groom said to be Catholic at time of marriage.
