    1871 census, age 106; also in household Mary 65 and Catherine J. McShea 30;
    Royal's Ontario death reg'n (#12040) age said to be 107, cause of death "old age 12 mos."
  • Note: Mary; Couple had been married 52 years, 9 months and 19 days when the wife died.

  • Note: Isabella was widowed at a fairly young age. She and her family emigrated to the USA, possibly after the death of her husband? In 1840 she and the children were in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the household consisted of two boys, one between 10 and 15, the other between 15 and 20; and three females, Isabella, head of the household was in her 40s, and the two girls were between 5 and 10, and between 10 and 15. Appears to have died before the 1850 census.

    "Montrose Thomas Burrows, born October 31, 1884, at Halstead, Kansas, died August 21, 1947. Formerly Fellow of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research; Instructor in Anatomy, Cornell University; Associate in Pathology and Resident Pathologist, Johns Hopkins Hospital; Acting Professor of Pathology, Washington University; Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of the Research Laboratory, Barnard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital, St. Louis. Director of the Cancer Clinic, Pasadena Hospital, since 1928. Fertile in ideas and skillful with his hands, he was a pioneer in tissue culture and first to adapt its methods to the study of tissues from warm-blooded animals. Later he devoted his time to cancer research and to the practice of surgery, specializing in cancer. (Information submitted by Ross G. Harrison.)"
    Montrose completed his M.D. at Johns Hopkins in 1909.
