• Note: Can't find birth record; 1891 census has her 24 years old, which would suggest born 1867, but Charlotte's birth was registered in 67--estimating Constance born abt 1863, more or less! Another possibility is that she is the child who was registered as Lucy Henrietta? See listing for Lucy. 1911 census unmarried, age 47, living with her mother.

• Note: I wonder if these Merediths in Lincoln county might have been UE Loyalists? This generation was born in Canada, and the mother was born in the USA.
  From Ancestry.ca Canadian immigration records: Abraham Meredith, 1836 - Upper Canada: Land patents issued from 20 April 1836, and the 2 June next ensuing, prepared in compliance with an Address of the House of Assembly to that effect. 1,478 patents. Upper Canada: Papers Relating to Sir F. Bond-Head (Source: National Library of Canada: British Parliamentary Papers.)
  Abraham was 52 on the 1851 census, 71 in 1871, 80 in 1881 and 82 years and 6 months old when he died in November 1882. He farmed in Grimsby tp, Lincoln county. The informant on his death registration was Mrs. Meredith, widow, suggesting he may have remarried after Susan's death. I cannot find any record of this however. Mrs. Meredith could have been a daughter-in-law?

  A pleasant event took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Haggerty, Stony Beach, Sask., on Tuesday evening, Dec. 15, it being the marriage of their niece, Miss Eva M. Tanner of Christina, Ont., to J. Edgar Johnson, of Eastview, Sask. The bride looked very pretty as she entered the drawing room leaning on the arm of A.E. Haggerty, while the wedding march was played by Mrs. D. Walls of Moosejaw. The groom's sister Miss Annie Johnson, acted as the bride's assistant, while Elmer Haggerty supported the groom. The ceremony was performed by Rev. D.J. Scott of Pense. After a very sumptuous repast mingled with toasts and speeches for the welfare of the bride and groom, the couple left via the Soo line for eastern points.
  Attempts to place this woman are uncertain. I think she must have been the child of Thomas Tanner and Sarah Elizabeth Williams, residents of Sheddan tp, Elgin county, Ontario. If so, she was registered as Eva Corinne Tanner, born 17 Sept. 1889, reg'n #7245. Thomas Tanner does not appear to be related to the Tanners who are the descendants of Mary/Molly Haggerty and William Tanner of Ireland. The relationship must be through the Williams family, via

  Obituary, May 8, 1919, Shelburne Free Press:
  It is with deep regret we report the death of Margaret Elizabeth Oldfield, beloved wife of William Meredith, at her home, lot 266, con 3, Back Line, Melancthon, on Wednesday morning, April 30th, aged 42 years. Deceased had been in failing health for some months but had only been confined to bed for a month. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn their loss five small children, John Thomas, Dorothy, Franklin, Margaret and Jimmie, also her parents, two sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Geo. MacIntyre, MacIntyre; Miss Belle Oldfield, at home; Wilson, in the West; James and Caldwell, Corbetton. The funeral, which was largely attended in spite of the bad roads and rain, took place on Friday afternoon to Shelburne cemetery. The floral offerings were very pretty, showing the deep affection felt by the sorrowing relatives and friends. The pall-bearers were six cousins; Ed, and Wilfred Coutts, Ed, Burn, Harold and Ross Oldfield. The deepest sympathy of the community goes out to Mr. Merdith in his sad bereavement.
