Maranda T. Lusher

F, #6906, b. 17 December 1842, d. 19 February 1930

Biography

  • Birth: 17 December 1842; Pennsylvania
  • Death: 19 February 1930; Pennsylvania
  • Burial: Oak Hill, Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania
  • Note: Probably born in Venango tp., Maranda was the daughter of Jonathan and Eliza Lusher of Rockland tp, Venango county, Pennsylvania. Maranda may be a year or two younger than indicated here. In 1850 she was said to be 7 years old and in 1860 (July 18) she was 16. I couldn't find her in either 1870 or 1880--I wonder if she was previously married? 1870 census possibilities: Mrs. John Mumford, 30, Sandy Creek, Mercer Co., eldest child 3; Mrs. Field Manners, 26, Rockland tp, Venago Co., eldest child 16 and therefore would have to be a stepson--other children aged 14, 11, 9, 6, 3; and Mrs. Alexander Gordon, 30, Cranberry tp, Venango, eldest child 3. Only the first of these families is still listed in 1880, but she is also in the 1900 census, as is Mrs. Gordon. In 1880 we also have Miranda, Mrs. John Ellison 36, eldest child 15, Shenango, Mercer county. All in all, this doesn't seem to be a fruitful search!

James H. Boyd

M, #6915, b. 2 February 1812, d. 26 January 1893

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: 2 February 1812; Ireland
  • Death: 26 January 1893
  • Note: In 1840 James and his wife were both in their 20s, and they had two daughters under the age of 5. However, in 1850 Jane was only 22, 16 years younger than James. As well, the two eldest children were aged 8 and 10. If these ages are correct, James must have been married to another woman in 1840, and at least one of the children living in 1840 must have no longer been living. James H. farmed adjacent to James and Jane Boyd, and hence is assumed to be their son.

William Boyd

M, #6916, b. 7 January 1802, d. 17 October 1851

Parents

Biography

  • Birth: 7 January 1802; Ireland
  • Death: 17 October 1851
  • Burial: Mercer County, Pennsylvania
  • Note: Placement tentative; lived in same township as other members of the family in 1850, but relationship not confirmed. A naturalization record for a William Boyd (#92), naturalized 14 June 1830, (born County Cork Ireland, British subject, emigrated from the Cove of Cork in April 1821 to Buffalo NY July 1821, aged 18) and a resident of Coolspring tp, may be a son of James and Jane. A William Boyd (1802-1851) is buried in the same cemetery as many members of this family and I believe he was a son of James and Jane.
