The 1921 England Census gives her place of birth as Zesmer, Russia. This is most likely Žiežmariai, Zhezhmer in Yiddish, which was one of the oldest Jewish communities in what is now Lithuania. It is midway between Kaunas and Vilnius in South-Eastern Lithuania.2,3
