Queen's County Ince families
M, #19034
Biography
- Note: Earliest land records:
15 January 1761: a freehold was issued to Richard and John Ince of Cappagh, Queen's county.
Pigot's Directory Maryborough, 1824: Captain Ince listed as a member of the nobility, gentry, etc.
Tithes Applotments, 1829: William Ince in Cappagh; Edward Ince in Doon.
Griffiths Valuation, 1850: Edward Ince of Doon, House, offices, land; Miss Sarah Ince, Maryborough, land only; Mrs. Caroline Ince, Rosenallis parish, land only; Anne Ince and Patrick dunne, house, office, yard and garden, Stradbally parish.
It appears that many of the 18th and 19th century Queen's county Inces emigrated elsewhere, as I have found relatively few death and/or burial records. so far I have records from Maryborough and Roskelton parish registers. I went through a number of registers before I included Ince in the surnames I recorded, so I would anticipate there are other records that could be extracted, notably from the Mountrath registers. I may have missed some in the Maryborough register, and I have only marriages and tombstone records from Roskelton. Much more to be done!
