Dorothy Findlay Knapp

• Note: Age 28 when she married in 1926. Marriage record says she was a spinster, yet family history is that she was divorced, which makes sense as her father's surname was Finlay, according to the marriage record. Parents named as Quitman? Finlay and Alice Downs. Had no luck looking for either Knapp or Finlay on US census records.
• Note: Thomas Richard Meredith; Marriage reg'n #270?61: witnesses W.M.? Meredith and Marion E. Meredith (probably wife of Arthur Baldwin Meredith), both of 161 Alcorn Avenue. This record is not easy to read. Gives address of Thomas and Dorothy as 11 Glengrove? Avenue E.

George Hagarty

• Note: Baptism record in Ballymodan parish, Bandon, son of Edward and Ellen Hegerty. 1891 and 1893 marriage registrations give his father's name as Edward--surname spelled Hagarty.
  When he married Alice Devine in 1891 George was a resident of 6 Summer View East, Dillon's Cross, Cork, and a gardener (as was his father, Edward). When he married Catherine Harvey in 1893 he was a widower, lived at 5 Jail Road in Cork and again both George and Edward were gardeners.
  In the census records the name is spelled Hegarty; in 1901, again a gardener, they lived in a huge house in Reisk, County Waterford, where they appear to be the only family occupying the house, which must surely have been owned by the landholder, said to be William O. Christmas, who evidently didn't live there. The house had 38 rooms and 23 front windows! The only William Christmas living in Ireland in 1901 was William T. Christmas, who lived in much more modest digs! In 1911 George was in Haggartstown, Kilkenny; occupation gardener. Family was Church of Ireland. Two children, believed to be from this family, were born 1906 and 1908, and births said to have been registered in the Birr district--I can't find a PLU named Birr, so am in a quandry about this?

• Note: Alice was a minor when she married. Her father was William Devine, Sexton at St Anne's Shandon, Cork in 1889. Death registration indicates she died in Douglas, cause of death "Hemorrhage of the womb after confinement 2 Hour/s".

Catherine Harvey

• Marriage: 27 July 1893; George Hagarty; St Mary's Shandon, Cork city, Ireland

• Note: Catherine was a spinster, of Springmount and a servant when she married. Her father was John Harvey, occupation Coast Guard Chief Boatman. Age 28 in 1901 census; 38 in 1911. In 1911 6 of her 7 children were still living. Benjamin would be the child who had died--this leaves no possibility of an Adam being born before the 1911 census.
