In 1880 she is a widow, living with her son Joseph and sister Matilda Kent is visiting. She is said to have died in 1899 at the age of 75.

In 1891 he was a gardener, age 47, wife Lucy aged 32, born Ontario; children were Thomas 14, Sharlotte 12, Nancy 11, Mary 7, Clark 5, Robert 4 and Seamour 2. In 1901 he was a widower, occupation "Gardiner," living with his sons Thomas, Clark, Robert and Seymour in Leeds county, Ontario. Birth records for children also indicate his occupation was gardener, except in 1883 when he was said to be a farmer.

Her death was reported by her niece, Mrs. James Sheridan of the same address in Brockville.
