3 John Turner was a button maker, initially in partnership with his uncle Samuel Hammond and John Dickinson, and later with his sons as Hammond, Turner & Sons. He was also involved in gilt plating, and was a partner with Bonham Hammond, a nephew of Samuel Hammond, and took that business forward after Bonham’s death in 1807. He patented an improved method of gold plating in 1817. He sympathised with the overall objectives of the reform movement in Birmingham but had a public disagreement with Thomas Attwood, the secretary of the Birmingham Political Union, in an exchange of letters published by the Birmingham Gazette. He lived at Heath Green near Birmingham, and married twice. He was the surviving executor of his uncle Samuel Hammond’s will proved in 1825. His own will was dated 10 Oct 1839 and proved on 14 Feb 1840. It mentions:

He was an executor of his father John Turner’s will proved in 1840 and his brother Samuel Hammond Turner’s will proved in 1841. He was recorded in the 1841 census with his wife Emily and daughter Emily in the household of John Testar, a tailor of South Audley Street, London. Henry was a cousin of Anne Testar nee Hitchins, the wife of John Testar.
In 1847 Henry Turner’s partnership with his brothers William Hammond Turner and James Turner (trading as Hammond Turner & Sons) was dissolved. He was living at Dover-terrace, Manchester at the time of his daughter’s marriage in 1850. He was recorded in the 1861 census at Buckingham Crescent, Victoria Park, Rusholme, Manchester with his wife Emily, and described then as a Worsted and C[loth] Manufacturer.

She is assumed to be the Charlotte Wilkes who married a John Turner in 1809 in Wolverhampton, on the basis of the birth dates of the children of John and Charlotte Turner. He was also named in the will of Samuel Hammond as his grand nephew. It can be inferred from the will that John Turner died between 20 July 1820, the date of the will, and 18 Sep 1821, the date of a codicil referring to him as deceased.
