  • Note: Arrived in New Brunswick September 1821. From Westmorland message board at Rootsweb: from Scott Winslow, 14 Feb. 2002: "Looking for information for the spouses of the following: William Bateman married 1826 Catherine Gibson--looking for any information on Catherine. . . ." PANB indicates age 92 when died. 1851 census has her as 39, which would indicate born 1813. Said to have arrived in NB September 1821.
    Parents said to be George Gibson and Elizabeth Edwards (not documented).

  • Note: Typhoid fever is prevalent in the Province. There have been fatal cases in Albert County including that of George BEATTY, teacher of the grammar school who died last week. Almost an entire family, Frederick BATEMAN's, Shediac Road, was cut off by the disease within a few days. First the mother, then the father and subsequently two of the children fell victim to the fever and we here other children have since been attacked - 'Moncton Times' (source: Daniel F.
