• Note: Ontario birth reg'n #16266: son of Alex. Thos. Meredith, Chatham tp, Kent county, Ontario.
  Ancestry.com immigration records show that in 1923 Ralph was a resident of 750 Nicholas Ave., Toledo, Ohio. He had left Canada in March, 1917 and was returning to visit his family when he entered Canada in Windsor. He was 26 years old and his occupation was machinist--he was not married. I could not find him on either the 1920 or the 1930 US census.
  A 2004 online query was as follows: "Would appreciate any info on Ralph Potruff Meredith B.14 Apr 1896 Eberts, Ontario, Canada, d. 29 Mar 1972 Toledo, OH, USA. Looking for marriage date to Teresa Ormsby, b. 1897 d. 1981. Would appreicate any info on either of them or contact with any living relatives. Once again, Thanks in advance."
  A new search of ancestry omitted birthplace and turned up more info:
  - WW I Draft Registration: In 1918 Ralph Pottruff of Itasca, Wis., born 14 Apr 1897 in Lake City, Minnesota; occupation firefighter with C., St., P., M and O Railway in Superior, Wisc.; father Alexander T. Meredith, said to have been born in Pocatello, Idaho.
  - WW II Draft Reg'n: still lists birthplace as Lake City, born 14 April 1896; Ralph and his wife Teresa resided at 122 Ralph St., Toledo.
  - 1940 census: Ralph P., 43, born Minnestoa; and Teresa A. 42, born NY; living with her 2 children, Grace 23, and Guy 19, Ormsby, both born NY. Ralph is again a machinist with a railroad.
