• Note: The fact that her eldest child was baptised in Schull/Skull suggests that may have been Mary's home parish. They may have married there? 1901 census Mary is 48; in 1911 she is 59 and 6 of 6 children still living.
• Note: Daniel Hegarty; Skibbereen marriage reg'ns for Daniel Hegarty were 1871, 1876, 1876, 1878, 1941. There were 57 Marys whose marriages were registered in Skibbereen in 1876--two of them were listed on the same pages as the two for Daniels in 1876: one was Mary Collins; the other Mary "Daily." 1911 census says they had then been married for 31 years--doesn't seem as if that could be correct?

John Hegarty

• Note: Possibly the father of George Hegarty of Smorane? There is only one land record for John Hegarty in Abbeystrowry--he was in Coronea, Abbeystrowry in 1853 on the Griffiths Valuation.There are other Johns in Creagh: Tithes Applotments show John Hegarty in Newcourt, Creagh parish in 1829; Griffiths Valuation has Johns in Smorane and Gortnaclohy, Creagh in 1853. These could all be fore the same man, or it could be a father and son or ?? There was a George, born abt 1850 whose father was probably John, living in Smorane in 1901 and 1911. He could have been a son or grandson of this John.

• Note: Francis was a constable living in Clonakilty when he married in 1874. He was the son of Valentine, also a constable. In 1901 and 1911 Francis was a pensioner and they were living in Cork city.

• Note: Eliza was a dressmaker in 1901; marriage reg'd Cork 2nd qtr 1901 (V 5, p. 49)--possible husband is William Tim Long whose marriage was also recorded on that page, but cannot find any trace of him in 1911 census. There is a death registration for a William Long, age 32, 2nd qtr 1907, that may be him.
