F, #16605, b. August 1890, d. after 1940
Parents
Biography
- Birth: August 1890; Ireland
- Note: Irish birth reg'n 3rd qtr 1890, Abbeyleix registration district. Age 4 when she sailed to America in Sept. 1894. Birth date from 1900 census in Worcester, Massachusetts, when she was living with her grandparents in Worcester. 1910 census Phobe E. Sheppard, 19, housekeeper in a private home; 1920 Phoebe E. Sheppard, 28, a nurse in a U.S. Army Hospital in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania; 1930 has Phoebe E. Sheppard back in Worcester, 40, still single and a nurse. In 1940 she was a nurse living in Nome, Alaska. That census indicates that in 1934 she had been living in South Dakota, and the 1935 South Dakota state census shows her in Eagle Butte. I cannot find her listed in the SSDI, but age-wise she would be border-line.

Obit from the Flint Journal:
HAGGERTY, Dan W. - Age 86, of Flint, died January 5, 2009 at Willowbrook Manor. Funeral service will be 10AM Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, with Rev. Paul Ytterock officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, from 4 to 8PM. Dan was born on September 10, 1922 in Flint, MI. After attending two years at Flint Community College he joined the Army where he was a pilot of a B24 Liberator. He flew 35 combat missions in Italy, Germany, and the Balkan Islands. Upon discharge in 1945 he attended and graduated from the University of Michigan. Dan worked as an industrial engineer at Flint AC Spark Plug retiring in 1982. After his retirement in 1982, he drove and greeted families at Brown Funeral Home for a few years, until he decided he was just too busy with retirement and had to leave Brown's. In 1948 he married Janet Shuirman. Surviving are two daughters . . . and three grandchildren . . . He was anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild in June 2009. Dan enjoyed most everything. He particularly loved his cat, Kato and his two aquariums of fish. He could fix about anything around the house. He loved walking, golf, and photography. Most of all he loved his family and friends. He was a wonderful loving father and grandfather. Dan was an active member of Community Presbyterian Church, where over the many years he served as a trustee, deacon, member of the Challengers, President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Men's Club. He was very saddened that his church, of over 50 years, closed its doors on the last Sunday of 2008. He was worried about finding a new church. He doesn't need to worry anymore. He is resting peacefully in the greatest church of all! For 44 years he was married to his wife, Janet, who preceded him in death in 1991. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Mary Haggerty and his sister Reba Chatters. Contributions may be made to the Great Lakes Cancer Institute - McLaren, 4100 Beecher Rd., Flint, MI 48532 or a charity of your choice.
