Death registration #18159: retired road foreman, age 86 yrs, 2 mos, 20 dys; cause of death pneumonia; birth date said to be 9 June 1849; 1901 census says 5 June 1854; 1911 census June 1860! The 1861 census indicated he would be 9 at his next birthday, suggesting he was probably born abt 1852. However, in January 1852 (1851 census) it says he would be 2 years old on his next birthday--hence born 1850. And 1850 seems like a good round number!
