    Obit in The Anthon Herald, 18 May 1960, page 1:
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 1960, at the First Methodist Church in Anthon for George R. Patterson, 69, who died Friday night, May 13, at a Sioux City hospital after a lingering illness. Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home of Anthon. McKenna Post 651 American Legion of Oto conducted graveside military rites. George Reginald Patterson, son of Henry and Maria Patterson, and a lifelong resident of the Anthon and Oto communities, was born March 4, 1891, near Anthon. He farmed his entire lifetime. He was a veteran of World War I and a long time member of Henry V. McKenna, American Legion Post #651 of Oto. He married Rose Bennett March 28, 1923, at Sioux City. They were the parents of four children, three daughters and one son. Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Scharnweber of Des Moines, Mrs. Calvin (Mary) Tovrea of Omaha, Nebraska, and Maria Patterson of Des Moines; a son, Wayne of Anthon; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Mitchell of Oto and Elsie Patterson of Sioux City; and two grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents.
