  • Note: I think it likely Charity is listed on the 1851 Canadian census as "Charlotte", age 28 in 1852. It appears that Charity had no children of her own. Harcourt had children by a previous marriage. Ontario death registration #20483: widow, 67, cause of death heart disease.

  • Note: Frances Ruth Meredith d March 1853, Melbourne, Australia married Robert WYLY [1807-1854 Melbourne, Australia] in Mountmellick, Co King's, Ch of Irl 8 Oct 1833. They emigrated from Dublin Dec 1852 with 5 children, wife pregnant and gave birth en route. Frances died one month after arriving in Australia.

    Niece Elizabeth Hegarty was named executor.

    To his grandniece Maria Trant: 34 pounds 2s 6d to be paid annually during the life of her father Philip Trant plus half of the household furniture, china, glass and linen, as long as she lives with my niece Elizabeth “until either of them are married and that said Maria Trant marries with the Consent of my said Niece Elizabeth Hegarty.”

    To his niece Mary Hegarty: 200 pounds “on the day of her marriage and not before and without any interest for the same in the meantime provided the said Mary Hegarty Marries with the consent of her Sister the said Elizabeth Hegarty.”

    To his grandnieces Ellen Cahill and Mary Hegarty: 100 pounds “each but not to be subject to any interest until they shall attain the age of Twelve years, and in case of the death of either of them, the said Ellen Cahill or Mary Hegarty before they shall attain the age of Twenty one years a day of Marriage which shall first happen, that the said legacy of One hundred pounds of her so dying shall go to and amongst her Brothers share and share alike, said sum of One hundred pounds to be paid them, the said Ellen Cahill and Mary Hegarty on the day of their respective Marriages and not before, provided they Marry with the Consent of their Aunt the said Elizabeth Hegarty.”

    Maria Trant: 115 pounds “for the purpose of paying off her father’s bond to me for Two hundred pounds and renewal [Time?] of the Lands of Balliferine on his the said James Philip Trant, apportioning, settling and appointing one undivided moiety of said Lands of Balance on the said Maria Trant persuant to the settlement made upon the intermarriage of the said James Philip Trant with Margaret Hegarty, Mother of the said Maria Trant and I do hereby request the said Maria Trant to Join her Brother in Makeing a settlement on their step Mother.

    The balance “to Elizabeth Hegarty during such time as she shall remain unmarried.” If the “said Elizabeth Hegarty shall think it proper to Marry” she gets 500 pounds “out of the said residue” and the “remainder to be divided amongst” Elizabeth and her brothers and sisters and Maria Trant, in “shares and proportions and at such time of times as she, the said Elizabeth Hegarty, shall think proper to direct.”

    Elizabeth Hegarty was appointed as “Guardian to the person and fortune of said Grand nieces Maria Trant, Ellen Cahill and Mary Hegarty . . .”

    This will was registered in the Court 31 March 1804, and at the Bank of Ireland 30 Aug 1814.
