Samuel George Garside

M, #9906, b. about 1845, d. before June 1880

Biography

  • Birth: About 1845; Scotland
  • Marriage: 12 August 1878; Cecilia Small; St. Catharine's, Ontario
  • Death: Before June 1880
  • Note: 1871 Census: GARSIDE , SAMUEL Age [31] Birthplace [ENGLAND] Religion [ RB] Ethnic Origin [ENGLISH] Occupation [ MACHINIST] Division [2] Page [66] County [WENTWORTH] Description [Dundas Twn.] The marriage record indicates Samuel was born in Scotland; there are several Garsides of English ancestry in the census, but none of Scottish ancestry. There is also an age discrepancy between this census record and the marriage registration. Samuel must have died shortly after the marriage as Cecilia remarried two years later.
  • Note: Cecilia Small; #005876-78 (Lincoln Co): Samuel George Garside, 33, machinist, born Scotland, resident of Dundas, s/o Charles S. & Margaret Jessie, married Cecelia Small, 23, Canada, Beamsville, d/o Joseph & Catherine Small, witn: Mary Jane Palmerstone & Minnie Langford, both of St. Catharines, 12 Aug 1878 at St. Catharines
