Sussex county is in the uppermost tip of New Jersey. In its centre is Augusta, in the midst of a triangle formed by connecting Wantage, Branchville and Newton (aka Newtown and New Town), where these Hagertys/Haggertys lived.
Public member trees on ancestry say Hugh Haggerty was born about 1725 in Ireland and died in Sussex county NJ in 1795.
Will extract available on ancestry: Hugh Haggerty, Newtown, Sussex county, date (probate?) 20 Augst 1795: named children James, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary, and Nancy Stull and grandchildren Uzeal Haggerty and Nancy Bucklor. Witnesses were Silas Hopkins, Christopher Haggerty and John Youngs.
