Sydney George Heagarty
M, #20176, b. 26 April 1881, d. 29 July 1961
Parents
Biography
- Birth: 26 April 1881; Islington, England
- Christening: 8 October 1892; St Jude, Peckham, Surrey
- Death: 29 July 1961; San Joaquin, California
- Note: In 1901 "Sidney" was a draper's assistant. In 1920 he and his family were living in Fresno, California; in 1930 and 1940 they were in Santa Clara. Sidney had arrived in the USA in 1908 and was naturalized in 1913; his occupation was salesman. His age was 47 in 1930, occupation clerk in dry goods store. In 1940 he was a clerk, owned his own home and had completed the 7th grade in school.
When his sisters visited in 1939 he was living at 2099 Lincoln Avenue, San Jose.In 1954 the city directory shows them still at 2099 Lincoln Avenue, San Jose. His occupation in 1941 was stockman for L. Hart and Son Co; in 1944 was ship yard worker.
There are also three records posted of Sydney sailing from England to the USA--departure dates:
21 April 1909 on the Majestic--he is listed as British on this one; occupation appears to be Barehouse--perhaps Warehouse?
24 June 1950 on the Queen Elizabeth, age 69, stock manager, USA citizen, while in UK was at 7, Ridgeway, Hayes, Bromley, Kent
3 Nov 1960 on the Queen Mary--USA citizen
I wonder if he went to the UK every 10 years? and not all online?
California death reg'n from Family Search.
- Note: Emma Kuhn Wessell; Both Sydney and Emma were naturalized in 1908, suggesting they had probably married by then? However, 1930 census says they had been married for 20 years.
