- Birth: About 1707; Tuam, County Galway, Ireland

- Note: Extracted from William Maziere Brady’s "Clerical and Parochial Records of Cork, Cloyne and Ross," 1863/4, Vol 2, p. 537:
James was the son of James Brady. He entered TCD 26 May 1724, age 17. In 1732 he was "licensed to the curacy of Ballymoney, Cork." From 1749 to 1752 he was at Kileaskin parish; and from 1752 until his death in 1759 he served Myross parish. He married Elizabeth Travers of Kilmeen parish (adjacent to Ballymoney) 23 Nov. 1732. He and Elizabeth had 4 children. James ""desired to be buried 'at Kilmeen privately, at the dead time of night.'" Administration of his will was granted to his daughter Mary; it was dated 6 Feb. 1759 and proved 23 Jun 1759.
Additional info from Albert E. Casey, "O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and the Upper Blackwater in Ireland", Vol 14:
Will of Rev. James Doherty. Names of children are listed, and only in the case of Elizabeth is the surname of Doherty listed. Odd? The executors are named as his son Samuel and brother-in-law, Robert Travers of Roundhill, County Cork. Witnesses were David Freeman, William Haggartie and Peter Donovan.

Elizabeth Travers
F, #20127
Biography
- Note: Elizabeth was from Kilmeen parish when she married. The names of her children are listed by both Brady and Casey, and the daughters are all in alphabetical order--might that also have been the birth order? We may never know!
The will of her husband, James Doherty, reveals that Elizabeth was a sister of Robert Travers of Roundhill, Ballymoney parish, County Cork. A search for Travers and Roundhill reveals numerous references, including:
Roundhill house was the home of Travers Esq in the 1770s. The representatives of Robert Travers were leasing this property to Timothy Crowley at the time of Griffith's Valuation, when it was valued at £198 including the nearby mill complex. Both buildings are still extant. (51.73340 Lat--8.75277 Long).
