- Note: Obituary in March 18, 1857 Canada Christian Advocate (p.293): Benjamin Lockwood was born Aug. 11, 1770, on the North River, N.Y., and moved to Nova Scotia, then to Upper Canada with his loyalist parents. About 1820, he settled in Carradoc, where he died, Jan. 19, 1857; survived by his wife and 124 descendants. (Extracted by Donald McKenzie, "More Notices from Methodist papers").
Lived in Glanford, Flamborough West Twp. before moving to Caradoc.
The History of Middlesex County (p. 471) notes that Caradoc Tp. was surveyed in 1821 and that Benjamin Lockwood located there immediately after the survey.
The 1851 census for Caradoc (http://www.digital-avatar2.com/members/granny2/caradoc1.html) indicates that Benjamin was 82, "Keizah" was 74 and they lived Lot 21, Con 1.
