Parents
Biography
Sir William MEREDITH was born about 1563 in Stansty, Denbighshire, Wales.
5 He and
Jane PALMER were married. He died about 1604, at age ~41.
2 Sir William Meredith’s Will was dated 6 Jul 1603 and it was proved on 8 Feb 1604/5.
Note: The History of Parliament appears to have conflated information about two different William Merediths: one, the William in Boyd's Inhabitants of London who married Martha Long and was the son of Robert Meredith (a citizen and mercer who married Jane Lock and who died in 1547); the other, the present William who was paymaster in the Low Countries, who was knighted and is ancestor to the Leeds Abbey Merediths. For the latter to have been a mercer in Antwerp in 1558 would mean a very much earlier date of birth than his brothers Hugh etc.
