He is described in the Oxford Alumni register as the son of Edward of Home, Salop, pleb. He entered Balliol College on 17 Nov 1698, aged 17, and received his B.A. in 1702 and his M.A. in 1706. He is assumed to be the same Edward baptised to parents Edward and Margaret on 30 Nov 1680 at Wentnor; both the date and place are consistent with the details in the Oxford register. His will was dated 19 April 1741 and proved on 6 July 1741. It mentions:
- Edward Rogers, cousin ( to whom he bequeaths freehold estate at the Home, and Runnesgate in Hussington parish)
