Note: In the 1850 census there was a large Alexander family living very near the farm of Jane's family in Coolspring tp, Mercer county--they could be John's parents and siblings. In 1860 John was listed as 37 years old, a "Mr [master?] Carpenter." He evidently died before the 1870 census.

Note: George Washington Sweesy: son of Alice Forbes and Thomas Sweesy. What an extraordinary lifel He served in the American Civil War after his family relocated to Iowa. Moved to Halstead Kansas (there is a street in this small community named Sweesy). He owned newspapers in various places and eventually moved to Redlands California. He and his wife are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles. (email from E. Forbes, Aug. 2007)
In 1880 George and his family lived in Halstead, where he was a hotel keeper.
