Thomas Morley

- Birth: About 1760; Ireland
- Note: This is a possible set of parents for the Morley children: Sarah, Anne, Richard, Elizabeth, Thomas, Susannah, Mary Ann and Robert. Their marriage date is a good fit with the birth date of the eldest of the Morley children. We now have documentation that their father was named Thomas (from baptism records for the three youngest). Whether or not he was the Thomas Morley who married Elizabeth Gay is still speculative.
When Anne Morley and her husband, James Haggerty, came to Canada in 1827 they brought a list of the names of the Morley siblings and their birth dates. We had predicted that the father of this family was probably called Thomas, based on the names of Anne and Sarah's children.
Abbeystrewry (Skibbereen) baptism records for Susanna, Mary Ann and Robert confirm that their father was Thomas and that they lived in that parish from at least November 1803 until April 1806. Susannah's marriage record indicates she was a resident of Ballymodan parish (Bandon) at that time.

- Note: An Elizabeth Morley married a Nicholas Stout in County Cork in 1812. I believe it likely this was the Elizabeth and that one or more of the Stouts who married Haggertys (Richard, Nicholas and John--the latter two were said to be brothers--Richard may have been another brother or a cousin?) were her sons. No documentation however!

- Note: Susannah and her two younger siblings were baptised in Abbeystrewry parish, in Skibbereen.
Marriage record for John and Susannah indicates that both were residents of Ballymodan parish in 1830. There were Morleys in that parish over a great many years. However, Susanna's children do not appear to have been christened in Ballymodan.
Ontario death registration #6358: cause of death old age; informant was John Justice.
- Note: John Justice; Both were said to be residents of Ballymodan Parish, County Cork at the time of their marriage (Register, p. 187). (Ballymodan includes the part of Bandon and surrounding area that is south of the Bandon River.)
