  Eric worked for many years at Canadian Tire, Canada Transport, then opened up his own business Emerson's Garage on Mudcat Lane in Foxboro, closing up shop upon his retirement.

• Note: In 1900 Christina (Tina) had apparently remarried 4 years earlier. In that census she was said to have had 9 children, 6 of whom were still living. The two youngest were the children of her second husband, suggesting the other 7, only 4 of whom must have survived until 1900, were Batemans. Ervie, Cathrine and Minnie were living with their mother and step-father in Iowa, and Mary, who by 1900 had married George Irish. Mary and George Irish are the next household (i.e., next to the Ellis-Bateman household) in the 1900 census (handwriting was difficult to read). Adescendant told me the following: Christina married yet a third time and moved to California. She came back to visit after World War II, sometime in the summer. I remember her as a very small woman who sat in a chair, tatting, and her feet would not reach the ground.
