Martha MEREDITH was born in 1726.2 She died on 8 October 1788, at age ~62, in Chester.3 She was buried in October 1788 in Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, Chester.3
The will of Martha Meredith was proved on 21 Nov 1788. Her monument in the Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, Chester, reads:
“Here lieth interrd the remains of Martha Meredith, spinster, sister of sir William Meredith, of Henbury in this county, bart. who died in this city on the eighth day of October, 1788, aged 64 years.”.4,3 Martha MEREDITH was baptised on 21 December 1726 in Capesthorne, Cheshire, England.2

Biography

Sir William MEREDITH, 3rd Bart, was born about 1724.1 He died on 2 January 1790, at age ~66, in Lyons, France.1
Sir William Meredith succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet of Marston on the death of his grandfather. He entered Westminster School, London in 1738 and Christ Church College, Oxford in 1743. He served as:
~ Member of Parliament for Wigan from 1754 to 1761;
~ Member of Parliament for Liverpool from 1761 to 1780;
~ Lord of the Admiralty from Jul 1765 to Dec 1766.
In 1779 he sold Henbury Hall for £24,000
The town of Meredith New Hampshire, USA was incorporated in 1768 and named after Sir William Meredith, in recognition of his opposition to taxation on the colonies
Note: his marriage to Miss Cheetham of Mellor, Derbyshire, on 17 Nov 1747 was mistakenly announced in the Gentleman's Magazine; he remained a bachelor.1,2 Sir William MEREDITH, 3rd Bart, was baptised on 10 March 1724.1
