Earl Robert McGinnis June 1, 1930 June 2, 2007 It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that the family announces Earl's passing. Following a lengthy, courageous and highly dignified battle with cancer, our Lord released Earl from his pain and suffering. Earl was born and resided in Saskatoon all his life. He attended Buena Vista Primary School and Saskatoon Technical Institute High School. While attending Buena Vista at the age of 13, Earl met, and never left, the love of his life, wife Dee. Following graduation Earl apprenticed in, and became certified as a journeyman in the plumbing, heating and air conditioning business. Earl eventually formed, with two partners, his own highly regarded company, Saskatoon Mechanical. Earl was also involved in this business' training program both with instruction and as a sitting member of the examination board. Earl retired in 1982, however was recruited by the Saskatoon YWCA to be their operations manager, a position he held until his second retirement in 1993. Earl supervised the relocation of the YWCA to its present location and the reconstruction of the original stonemason wall in the new building, for which he was publicly recognized by the Prince of Wales. Earl was a prominent and highly regarded member of the Saskatchewan Masonic fraternity and held many distinguished positions with the Brotherhood. Earl also enjoyed life fully; embracing RV trailering, fishing, RC modeling, wine making, woodworking, and sporting activities. His most enjoyable activity was being with and helping his family. Earl was a quiet, competent, upright, honest and honourable man whose word was his bond. He embodied the qualities our Lord saw in St. Peter You are the rock upon which I will build my church Earl was the rock upon which his family was built and upon which his many friends relied. To all who had the privilege of knowing Earl, his loss is irreplaceable. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of loss, a fund has been established with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Earl McGinnis Memorial Fund, donations to this fund were Earl's wishes. It was also Earl's wish that we arrange a small private family funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of David J. Schurr, Park Funeral Chapel. A special thank you to David Schurr, and to all of the compassionate staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Paul's Hospital. I remember the day I met you The day God made you mine I remember the day you left me And will till the end of time Your Dee. Our eternal love, we will all miss you Earl.
